It's the World Cup: Be a Soccer Pro
Soccer is one the world's most popular sports! And with the World Cup currently taking place in Brazil, it’s no wonder everyone is tuning in!
From local parks to the sandy beaches, soccer is played by millions of children across the globe. Participating in a soccer league offers a positive way for kids to have fun and provides an opportunity for families to spend quality time together. Soccer also helps children develop in countless ways that benefit their physical and emotional well-being. Considering the small amount of gear needed to play the game, soccer is a great sport for kids.
Just in time for the 2014 World Cup, here are some tips to help you play like the pros!
Practice, practice, practice!
Hone your passing, dribbling, shooting, and defensive skills by practicing regularly with a team or on your own.
Call plays and alerts to your teammates throughout the game to ensure you're playing as a unit.
Pass to your Teammates
Passing the ball is the fastest way to move down the field. Much faster than dribbling, passing allows you to get to the net more efficiently, resulting in more chances to score a goal.
Keep your Head Up
Be aware of where your teammates and opponents are by keeping your head up and watching the field.
Stick to the Plan
Stick with your team's strategy and tactics for the day. This will make sure that everyone is on the same page for the day's game.
Stay Hydrated and Energized
Pack a cooler with plenty of water or drinks, and orange slices.
Spend 10 minutes a day practicing after school with a friend or in your backyard and you'll see an improvement in your soccer skills!
