Family Activities Encourage your kids to connect with nature with our kid friendly activities and events or just let them loose to hand feed a chickadee or go pond netting. See a live Birds of Prey Show every Sunday at 1pm and a live Wet n’ Scaly reptile /amphibian Show every Saturday at 1pm (cost of show is included in admission). Take in a workshop or craft.
Hiking & Biking On foot or bike (take your own or rent a bike from the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre) tour the 25km trail system through the scenic Wye Valley. The Wye Valley is home to the provincially significant Wye Marsh wetlands and is teeming with wildlife and a diversity of native plants. The trails are family friendly and offer the perfect opportunity for to escape, explore and experience the Wye Valley. Canoe & Kayaking Escape, explore, and experience the marsh with a guided canoe or kayak tour. Our Wye Marsh Naturalists will offer their knowledge and expertise as you traverse the cattail channels and point out those items of interest.
Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing Wye Marsh Ski Trails are rapidly becoming the “not so…best kept secret” of the area. This winter ski 25 km of groomed & track-set ski trails through beautifully diverse terrain which meanders through picturesque areas of hardwood forests and cedar groves. There are an additional 10 km of hiking and snowshoe trails that take you through our interpretative trails and boardwalk.
Eco-tours Canoe Eco-tours This is your chance to explore a rare and ecologically significant wetland teeming with wildlife. Our experienced and knowledgeable guides will lead you on a 3 hour paddling tour deep into the most inaccessible areas of the 3000 acre Wye Marsh.
Snowshoe Eco-tours It’s all about keeping on the move, being completely engaged and having lots of fun while playing outside. Our naturalists promise you this with the Winter Ecotour adventure. Enjoy a 3 hour, 3-4km snowshoe trek into the woods of Wye Marsh. Learn about animal tracking, tree identification, hands-on winter survival & fire starting techniques & more. Learn how to navigate your way through the Marsh using a GPS and get the group back. And to wrap it all up you will feast on hot chocolate & bannock over a hot fire…that you made! Pre-registration is required.
Wildlife Viewing This is your chance to explore a rare and ecologically significant wetland teeming with wildlife. Wye Marsh is a designated Important Bird Area (IBA) with over 200 species of breeding birds and over 1,000 plant species. There are 25 km’s of scenic trails as well as 2 km of floating boardwalk that tour through the marsh. Binoculars are available for use and scopes are located at the blind.
Winter the best time of year for viewing our magnificent Trumpeter Swans, one of Canada’s largest birds and a species that with the help from the Friends of Wye Marsh are being reintroduced back to Ontario. Winter is also a great time of year for hand feeding our charismatic chickadees. Grab a handful of seed then head out on our trails to escape, explore and experience Winter at its best.

Our day camps offer endless opportunities to escape, explore, and experience nature first hand through experiential play and investigation.
March Break Day Camp We offer fun and exciting March Break Camps filled with endless opportunities to escape, explore and experience all that the Wye Marsh has to offer. Your child will have the opportunity to experience cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, see a working sugar shack, hand feed chickadees, see live reptiles, amphibians, and birds of prey, plus much, much more!
Summer Day Camp During our Summer Day Camps your child will have the opportunity to learn about reptiles, amphibians, and birds of prey through interactive live demonstrations; explore over 25km of wilderness trails; voyage our marsh channels by canoe and kayak; plus much, much more!
Camp Wetland & Wild Things and Kinder Camp Ages 4-12 Each week at camp has a different nature theme with associated special activities, giving campers a chance to more closely examine some of what the Marsh has to offer.
Survival Camp, Ages 10-12 If your child is looking for a different experience, this week-long session is designed for older campers to escape, explore and experience a specific program area, while still participating in all the exciting activities of our regular camps.
